Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC)
Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) is a methyl cellulose derivative made from natural renewable polymers, such as cotton or wood pulp. It is a white powder that is odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. It can dissolve in water and form a clear solution with a specific viscosity. With good stability even in alkaline environments, HPMC is widely used in dry-mixed mortar industry, oil drilling, detergent, paint and coatings.

Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose HPMC is used in the construction industry as a water-retaining agent and retarder to increase the bonding strength and workability.
▶ Detergent Grade HPMC
Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose HPMC has thickening and antifreeze effects in shampoos and shower gels, and has water retention and good film-forming properties for hair and skin.
▶ Paint and Coatings Grade HPMC
Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose HPMC as a protective colloid shows good water retention and thickness in paint and coating.
▶ Oil Drilling Grade HPMC
Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose HPMC provides fine gel, salt resistance, excellent sand-carrying property.

● Whiteness
Although whiteness does not determine whether HPMC is easy to use, and if a whitening agent is added in the production process, it will affect its quality. However, most of the good products have good whiteness.
● Fineness
The fineness of HPMC is generally 80 mesh and 100 mesh, and 120 mesh is less. The finer the fineness, the better.
● Transmittance
Put hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) in water to form a transparent colloid, and look at its transmittance.
● Weight
The larger the proportion, the heavier the better. The specific gravity is large, generally because the hydroxypropyl content in it is high, and the hydroxypropyl content is high, so the water retention is better.
